Today, I officially launched Local Web Results. I am starting this site to share information, tips, hints, and facilitate the discussion of how local small business owners can get a leg up on their local competitors using the Internet.
If you are thinking to yourself, not another wannabe Internet Marketing Guru or self proclaimed expert blogger, let me say this site is not for you. The purpose of this site is not for people within this Industry to read (although everyone is welcome!), but for people who don’t know what “SEO” is.
I have been in the “Internet” business for almost 10 years now and I am amazed at how things have evolved, but we are only recently been able to see the local, small business owners truly take advantage of this technology.
The real reason for starting this site is to help small business owners understand how to use the Internet as a competitive advantage over their local competition. All too often I see someone claim to be a “web designer” and sell a business owner on spending a couple thousand dollars on a website and set the expectation that customers will come knocking down their door.
All to often this is not the case. The reason? Someone who knows how to code a couple of HTML pages does not necessarily understand business. They can build you a website, but in the end what good is a website if it doesn’t produce results for your business?
At the end of the day a small business owner needs results. A website might be one tool that can be used to generate results, but having a website does not produce results.
The original school of thought was build a website and new customers will find you. Well this just isn’t the case. Good sound business principles still factor into the success (or failure) of a business even on the Internet.
With this site, I will present different ways that will hopefully spur new ideas that you can use that will produce results for your business, not just a pretty website.
Flipping the model on its head, by focusing on the goal (sales, leads, sign-ups, or whatever reason you are in business) instead of the technology, you will have better results and get a leg up on your competitors – Assuming they aren’t reading this too!
There are a couple of ways to stay informed of new information posted on this website. The best way is to subscribe to the Local Web Results RSS Feed. If you are not sure what an RSS Feed is stay tuned for a future post where I will explain the competitive advantage you can gain through this technology.
You can Subscribe to Local Web Results by Email.
Another way is to sign up for our newsletter where we will periodically email you a summary of recent information posted on the site. I highly suggest everyone sign up for this newsletter because as a small business owner your time is limited and the newsletter will provide a summary of our most important information where you can decide to read further at our website.
The last way is to simply bookmark the Local Web Results homepage. Bookmarking the site is only good if you come back and visit!
